Welcome
As Headteacher, I am delighted to welcome you to Cherry Tree Academy. Thank you for your interest in our school.
Cherry Tree is a one-form entry primary school in Colchester, catering for children 4-11 years old and is part of Inspires Multi Academy Trust. As a small school, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming and friendly place, where all pupils are supported to reach their full potential, both academically and as developing individuals within our close community.
The Cherry Tree team is made up of staff with a range of experience, who come together to form a hardworking and dedicated team, focused on ensuring that children have the best start to their education. We believe that when there are strong links between home, school and the wider community, children learn best.
Our Connected Curriculum is broad and ambitious for all of our learners and we offer rich experiences across different areas to inspire our pupils to become life-long learners. Offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities in the form of clubs, trips and visits enhances our pupils experience. The curriculum and pastoral support from staff, help our pupils to be confident, resilient and independent learners. We value the importance of teaching the skills and knowledge to lead confident, healthy lives and become informed, active and responsible citizens.
Thank you for taking the time to explore our evolving website. We hope it gives you a taste of what we are about but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or wish to come and see our school in action.

Headteacher
At Cherry Tree Primary Academy our mission is that our pupils will develop:
• A set of spiritual and moral values — honesty, integrity and good judgement.
• A toolkit of basic skills — linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, physical and social.
• An enquiring and discriminating mind and a desire for knowledge.
• Strong self-esteem and high personal expectation.
• Tolerance and respect for others.
As a school, we value the relationship we have with parents, and the wider community. We believe that building strong links, in a culture of listening, helps us to achieve our mission statement together.
Ceri Jones - CEO of Inspires MAT
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Ceri Jones as CEO of Inspires MAT. Please read his opening statement below:
‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world’ – Nelson Mandela.
As the CEO of Inspires MAT, it is my passion to provide each child in my care with a learning experience that is second to none, within a learning environment which is caring, considerate and compassionate. Only when we are happy and supported can we thrive and become the best versions of ourselves – this is what we aspire to provide for all within our educational family.
As a Headteacher, national Leader of Education and Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching I believe vehemently in providing children with the very best educational experience I can. Not only through academic achievement but through experiences which will widen their knowledge of the world and open their eyes to opportunities and futures they never previously believed possible. I intend to utilise the strategies I deployed and experiences I learnt from, whilst at Chipping Hill, (ranked best primary school in East Anglia by the Sunday Times) within the trust so that each child thrives and excels in whatever they feel most passionate about.
Our goal is simple – provide each child and adult that associates with the trust I lead with the very best experiences and opportunities. Since my first day as CEO, I have focused on building a culture of respect, integrity and openness. A place where all can thrive irrespective of the part they play – this is the Connected Learning trustees and I believe in and will strive for each day.
